Dr. Afshan Khan is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in Psychiatry with a second ABPN certification in the sub-specialty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr. Khan has expertise in diagnosing and treating Depression, Mood Disorders, Anxiety, and Behavioral issues associated with Cognitive and Developmental delays and other psychiatric illnesses.
In addition to skills in prescribing psychiatric medication and medication management, Dr. Khan is well versed in psychotherapy techniques, which she incorporates into her interactions with her patients. Dr. Khan has successfully completed training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Individual Psychodynamic Therapy at University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW).
In addition, she completed courses at UTSW Family Studies Center in Family Therapy. During her time at UTSW, Dr. Khan created and lead Group Therapy sessions.
