Spravato (esketamine) - Nasal Spray Treatment

What is spravato?

Spravato is a prescription nasal spray treatment and is used to treat adults with treatment resistant depression. Spravato is taken with an oral antidepressant medication and requires supervision of a healthcare provider. Spravato offers an alternative approach for adults who have taken more than two antidepressant medications.

How it works?

  • If you are interested in Spravato, please discuss with your provider to see if it would be the right fit for you. Once approved, we will order the prescription and we will start the prior authorization process.
  • Once it has been approved by insurance, the office will call you to schedule your appointments.

How long is the treatment?

Typically, a full course of treatment will take around 2 months to complete. However, some patients continue past 2 months for long term maintenance of depression symptoms

Cost

Although Spravato may be approved through insurance, out of pocket costs can still be high depending on your insurance plan.

Spravato offers a savings program to assist patients. Please click the button below to learn more about their requirements.

side effects to consider

  • After administering the Spravato, you will need to wait at the office for 2 hours and be monitored by our staff. During this time, we will be monitoring your blood pressure as elevated blood pressure is a common side effect.
  • SPRAVATO may cause sleepiness, dizziness, spinning sensation, anxiety or dissociation. For these reasons, do not drive, operate machinery or do anything where you need to be completely alert until the day after a treatment session, even if you think you feel well enough to do so. Please be sure to arrange a ride to and from the office.
  • Some patients experience nausea or vomiting
